Practicing Personal Hygiene

Okay class, today we are going to learn about how to properly wash your hands to keep germs away and keep each other safe! Washing your hands keeps away germs and bacteria that lead to sickness. By washing your hands regularly, you will keep yourself and the people around you healthy!

What supplies will you need to wash your hands properly? Just three simple materials!

Step one: You must get your hands wet with warm water in the sink and apply a pump of soap to your hands.

Step 2: You must rub your hands together fully for at least twenty seconds. Make sure to get all-around your hands and fingers! It should start to create bubbles in your hands!

Step 3: Rinse off the soap well with warm water.

Step 4: Dry your hands with a towel! Great job!

  1. Kate, this lesson was really cute and so prevalent in the classrooms during a pandemic. This lesson also reminded me of the one you taught on zoom last semester with germs and glitter. Awesome lesson!

  2. Kate, I really enjoyed your post this week! I love how you used the pictures to show what is needed to wash your hands rather than just listing them. The comparing picture in the beginning is a super engaging piece to put right in the beginning. Great job!

  3. Hello Kate!

I love this lesson idea! Such an important concept to remember especially at an elementary age. Not only that but the images were nicely displayed and consistent with what part of the lesson came next. I wanted to highlight your use of the slider option, what a clever way to show clean versus dirty hands.

  4. Kate,
A good primer. Makes effective use of images to move the narrative.
Don’t forget to add a featured image.

  5. Hi Kate, I really liked your lesson!! I’m kind of a germaphobe, so as a teacher I will definitely be ensuring students learn about personal hygiene as much as possible. And the timing is quite fitting as everyone has been constantly reminded about frequent and proper handwashing these days.
