Final Reflection

  1. With this class, there were so many different sites and programs that we were introduced to! I probably have only heard of one or two sites prior to this class, so it was great learning and being hands on with so many new ones! Before the start of this class, I did not really feel comfortable using technology, it being one of my weaknesses. I was pleasantly surprised with how easy it was to use these different programs, and how creative you can get with it as well! As a teacher, we can use these sites to help students learn about different subjects, and it can be used with students of all ages. When using technology in the classroom in the future, it will definitely engage students to listen and participate. I can say that I have become more tech savvy throughout the course of this class, but there is always room for growth and improvement!

I loved how this class was based off of doing mini projects every week instead of having papers and test. It allowed us to engage with the different programs and helped us to really understand it by actually creating something! It is better than just watching a video about it or researching about the site because through that, we would not have been able to learn as much as we did. When students are given the chance to be hands on and engage with technology, it is more interesting and will motivate them to do their work, because through this course, I found myself to be more motivated to complete my work. I know that with this class, I really enjoyed getting to make and use different programs every week, and by doing it, it will help me to remember how to use these sites in the future. Great class overall and I really liked it!

Nutrition Final Presentation

by Madi Ohashi and Lauryn Nakashima

Access to our presentation/site:

For our final project, we decided to do a lesson on Go, Slow, and Whoa foods. The target audience for our presentation is 3rd graders. After our lesson is completed, we want the students to have a basic understanding of these specific food groups. We want them to know what foods are good to eat and which are not. Through creating a Google Slide, they will learn more in depth about the food group assigned to them. They will be able to view the other students work on a Padlet. We created a Google Site (link below) where they can find the information and a Padlet for students to upload their Google Slides on. These three programs will aid students learning by allowing students to access the online information, gather and organize their content, and then present and share their learning to their classmates. The use of the technology makes it all very accessible for the teacher, students, and outside members. We hope you enjoy our final project!

Equity for All Students- Edpuzzle

For this project, I used Edpuzzle to show a video about equity for all students. I thought that it was very easy to use and add questions within the video. I liked the different choices that you can use to ask a question. I did have a hard time finding a video to use for this, but once I did, it was very easy to do the project. I would definitely use this app again.

Draw Our Life!

by Madi Ohashi and Lauryn Nakashima

To make this Draw Our Life video, we used our iPhones to record a video of us drawing the images that we needed in order to make this video. We then got the video onto our computer and used Quicktime to record our audio. We put our audio and video together in iMovie to make this clip.

We thought it was very fun to do this assignment; however, it took a lot of planning in order to make this video. It also took a lot of time to make, because you needed to make sure each clip was perfect. Even though it was a little difficult and time consuming, we can see ourselves or our students using these applications to make videos for assignments or projects in the classroom.

Google Tour Creator

These are some of my favorite places that I have been in Europe! Hopefully one day, I can go back and visit all of these wonderful places! I used the Google Tour Creator for this, and it was pretty simple to use. One thing that I didn’t like was that it has to be a 360 degree photo, which was a little annoying, but overall, I liked using the tool!

Adobe Spark vs. Sway

Why I Love to Travel, My Theoretical Trip

I enjoyed using both the Adobe Spark and Sway, but I liked using Adobe Spark better. I liked the overall feel of it better, and I feel that it was easier for me to navigate through. It was also easier to add in pictures and it was nice to add in captions and the text would go underneath. When I did my Sway project, I did one where the text would go over the picture, so some of the text would cover the picture and I couldn’t really fix the font. But I liked using both, I just prefer Adobe Spark more!

My Life in Honolulu, HI

This is my project about where I am from using Sway! I really liked using this app, and it was fairly easy to use! It was a bit hard to really think about the different things that I do when I am at home, but it was fun to look at pictures and try to make a poem out of it!

The Life of Lulu!

I used the Adobe Spark to create this video. I made mine around the life of a dog named Lulu! It can be used for students to create a story about what they do with their pets, or they can make up their own story as well! I thought that it was good to use, and it can be used to show students an easy way to make videos! It was a bit difficult with the text because it could not be moved around easily. Another thing that I had a hard time with was finding a picture of the same dog doing multiple things, so just pretend all of the corgi pictures are Lulu(:

Learn About Europe!

This lesson is a KWL chart about Europe, made using Padlet. This lesson is geared towards 4th graders to have them learn about a different continent. This lesson is asking different questions that students would be interested in learning about Europe. It is a great way for students to learn in a fun way, while also gaining knowledge and learning new things about Europe!

The Seven Wonders of the World

by Lauryn Nakashima & Sabrina Pangelinan

This can be used as a geography lesson to introduce students to the different wonders of the world. As a class, they can compare and contrast similarities and differences between the different landmarks.

Start by clicking an icon on the map to view the different wonders where you can find pictures/videos, read brief descriptions, and visit links to learn more about them.

Name That Island!

by Sabrina Pangelinan & Lauryn Nakashima

For our post, we are doing a “Name That Island” review, meant for fourth graders, where the student will need to drag the corresponding name to the correct island in the picture.  This is meant to be a review where as a class, we have learned where the islands are located previously.  The goal for the students is to be able to name all the Hawaiian Islands and the Northern Mariana Islands.  To use it with our students, we would have them use their computers to access the editable PowerPoint.  The students will then go through it and drag the name of the island to the correct island in the picture next to it.
