I decided for my screencast I would read the story Are You My Mother by P.D. Eastman which as a kid was one of my favorite books. The video can be used to have kids follow along with the book or even used in a online classroom since its a little difficult to read picture books online and make sure the kids can see the pictures. I would use this screencast for either a kindergarten or 1 st grade class to help teach them their phonics as well as learning how to read simple sentences. Below is the video and the slideshow of the book as well!

Such a cute story – great choice for your screencast. Using pre-made photos of pages allowed the viewer to focus on the text and images instead of page turning. Good sound quality. Well spoken – warm tone and clearly stated. You “sound” like a teacher.
This is adorable! My mom (a 1st grade teacher) has been doing tons of read-alouds with screencasts and this is a really great way of doing it! Plus, you could add the camera to show the teacher and their expressions without trying to hold the book in front of yourself and read upside-down. 🙂

I love the way you used screen casting and Google Slides to read this book to your students. I feel like this is a great way to still do read aloud time when you are online. Using Google Slides also makes it very visible for all of your students. What a cute story too! I loved reading this when I was younger.
Aww I love this! Very kid friendly and easy to follow. I would definitely use screencast to read books aloud to my students, just like how you did. Definitely going to steal this, haha!

I love this use of screen casting! My CT and I have been struggling this year to find a great way to read aloud to our students. Holding a book on Zoom isn’t the greatest view for students. Watching a video of another reading it is unpredictable. Sharing an online version, like on Kindle, works okay. This use of screencast would be amazing as you can share it with student’s to watch asynchronously!
